The Next Generation Messenger

Lumiad Extended Technology [LXT] is working with the ambition to make every organization smarter by connecting devices using sensors with wireless technology. This results in smart systems providing insights on the status, use and the infrastructure of all connected devices within an organization. The Next Generation Messenger designed for Lumiad / LXT is an all-in-one solution. This robust smartphone provides the proven reliability of a pager combined with secure and high-quality VoIP communication. The NG messenger also features an integrated barcode scanner with a direct scan button, a valued feature for both hospital and retail use.

Design process

The Next Generation Messenger was designed and developed by Helder-ID simultaneously with the development of the electronics by the LXT-team. For the enclosure design a wide variety of possible use-scenarios was explored. This led to a characteristic design that features dual displays, for handling notifications without taking the device out of your pocket. The messenger is also equipped with physical buttons that allows users to respond quickly, even with gloves on. Prototypes were tested in both hospital and retail environments.

LXT – The R&D department of Lumiad – is focused on the integration of sensors and wireless technology, and has built-up special expertise in Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, ZigBee and Z-Wave. The company applies its knowledge in particular to making devices smarter and connected. Recent developments that complement the NG Messenger include a proprietary ‘OnAir’ IoT manager that enables users to track and manage a large number of devices on remote.
